We are committed to engage and keep in touch with our pre-school families outside our daily lessons via social media.

When Pinner Centre Pre-School had to close its doors due to Covid-19 restrictions from March until September 2020 and again from January until February 2021, we were committed to keep our pre-school community together and took our pre-school online so we could still be on hand to support our children and families.

We hosted Zoom sessions several times a week during term times, where like on a regular pre-school day we took the register, did our letter of the week, phonics and had show and tell. In addition, we demonstrated experiments and engaged the children in fun activities such as scavenger hunts, bingo, singing, fancy dress as well as funny hair and hat days. Twice a week we also had parent-led sessions, allowing the children to keep in touch.

For those children moving on to school in September 2020 and 2021 we were e also offering Transition Sessions. These sessions were specifically aimed at developing areas of language and numbers to get our children ready for starting school.

In order to help the children to stick to routines and some form of normality, we provided the parents with timetables and lessons plans and ideas to explore outside the virtual classes.

You find the activities and craft work made by our families during lockdown in this video and on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

We are regularly posting links to activities, crafts and experiments and which also showcase the children’s activities in class on Facebook and Instagram. They may give ideas and inspiration for activities outside pre-school and help to fill a few minutes or be a welcome distraction for the children during lockdown. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to access our ideas and activities.

We have WhatsApp groups for the parents and the pre-school to keep in touch during closure and send updates. It is very active and currently also being used to share ideas for activities and help to celebrate our children’s birthdays.
